How To Handle Selling A Condo By Assignment

We are occasionally requested to outline the process for assigning a builder’s offer of a condominium that has yet to be registered.  If we have a client who would like to have his or her builder’s offer assigned to another buyer, we direct them to the builder’s on-site sales office to review the pertinent clauses in that offer to determine the assignment restrictions and fees.

The client should then also retain a lawyer to handle the documentation for this type of assignment.  Retaining a lawyer who is familiar with this specific process is most beneficial for everyone involved.

One of our salespeople, Anne Howatt, just forwarded to us a list of Toronto lawyers who are particularly experienced in these assignments.

Here is her list:

Lawyers familiar with assignment of condos:

Nick Iannazzo, 425 University Ave #500 Toronto (416) 598 2002; Fax (416) 598 8183

David Nakelsky, 390 Bay Street #2800 Toronto (416) 862 7880 x 5955

Martin Rumack, 2 St Clair Ave East #202 Toronto (416) 961 3441

Audrey Loeb, 40 King St West #5800 Toronto (416) 595 8196

Gerald Miller, 390 Bay St Toronto (416) 363 2614
